Reply to Teacher Gao-Ru’s “Grieving Over Current Events”
Our boundless motherland where storms break out
Is too somber for us to talk about.
To deepen our sorrow autumn comes here,
The crickets’ chirps are too much for the ear.
Reply to Teacher Gao-ju’s “Grieving Over Current Events”
Whirls the Wind-and-Cloud
The dusky continent over.
All throughout the land
Sinks in a hushed gloom.
To top off the heartbreak,
Autumn is here again.
Chirp, chirp the crickets –
O, too much for the ear!
