The autumn cicada echoes cricket here and there,
Drinks softly bent banana leaves fair.

Rain is pattering and pattering,
Being a few-months heavy sleeper, I can’t fall into slumber calming.
At my heart an annoyance is gnawing,
So the tears from my eyes are trickling down, streaming.
After the autumn cicadae don’t make noises the crickets are chirping,
On banana leaves the drizzle is pit-a-patting and pit-a-patting.
