Message by Prime Minister Trudeau on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year
2 October 2016
Rosh Hashanah marks the start of a new year. It is a time of redemption and renewal, and hope for a new beginning. I am delighted to join Jewish communities across Canada and around the world in celebration of Rosh Hashanah.
In the coming days, Jews will come together to pray and hear the blowing of the shofar, to reflect on the past year and look forward to the promises of the year ahead.
I encourage everyone to embody the Jewish value of tikkun olam. We can all do our part to repair the world, and build a better future for our children and grandchildren.
On behalf of our family, Sophie and I wish everyone celebrating a healthy, peaceful, and prosperous New Year. Shana Tova Umetukah!
