Labour Leader Keir Starmer’s Message for Global Pride 2020
The coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating impact on Pride organisations across the globe. This year, hundreds of marches and events have been cancelled or postponed.
But we can still come together albeit digitally, and I’m delighted to support Global Pride which provides just such an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ communities and their allies, allowing us to celebrate diversity and equality during these challenging times.
I’m proud to be an ally of the LGBTQ+ community and I’m proud to lead a Labour Party which has consistently advanced the cause of civil rights. I also know that there’s much more to do and we must continue to stand against homophobia, transphobia and discrimination in all their forms.
I’d like to thank all of the volunteers from across the world who’ve worked so hard to make Global Pride happen and I hope that it brings some much-needed positivity and solidarity during these difficult times.
