The Fox Borrows Power from the Tiger

A tiger was hunting for small animals for food, when he caught a fox.

"How dare you seize me?" the fox demanded. "Don't you know that the Emperor of Heaven has made me the ruler of the animal kingdom? If you should hurt me, you would be defying the Emperor of Heaven. Please think of the consequence."

Seeing an expression of doubt on the tiger's face, the fox continued, "You think I am lying? Now let me walk around in the forest, and you follow close behind. You will see all the other animals flee in terror the moment they see me."

The tiger thought that this was a good test of the fox's claim. So he walked behind the fox in the forest. He was surprised to see that wherever he and the fox appeared, all the other animals ran away. He could not help but believe what the fox had said was true, and let the fox go free.
