With the bipartisan confirmation of Chuck Hagel as our next Secretary of Defense, we will have the defense secretary our nation needs and the leader our troops deserve. From the moment he volunteered for military service in Vietnam, Chuck has devoted his life to keeping America secure and our armed forces strong. An American patriot who fought and bled for our country, he understands our sacred obligations to our service members, military families and veterans.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

两党确认查克·哈格尔为我国下一任国防部长，从而使我们有了一位国家所需的国防部长，军队应有的领导人。查克从志愿参军赴越南服役的那一刻起，就把一生献给了保障美国安全和保持我军强大的事业。作为一名曾经为国作战流血的美国爱国者，他理解我们对我们的军人、军属和退伍军人所肩负的神圣职责。
