各位来宾，

各位老师、各位同学，

女士们，先生们，朋友们：

大家好！

　　非常高兴今天能和大家欢聚在这里，共同庆祝第三届“大使杯”汉语比赛的圆满成功，我谨代表中国驻尼泊尔使馆对本次大赛的获奖选手表示热烈的祝贺，对给予本次活动大力支持的尼教育部、尼文化、旅游和民航部，以及参与此次比赛的学校师生表示诚挚的感谢，对所有在尼工作、为此次大赛付出辛勤劳动的汉语教师们致以崇高的敬意！

It’s my great pleasure to be here with you to celebrate the complete success of the 3rd Ambassador Cup Chinese Language Contest. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, I wish to extend my warm congratulations to all winners of the contest, and sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Education as well as Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal for your strong support, especially to Honorable Mr. Posta Bahadur Bogati, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal for your kindly presenting at the ceremony. Meanwhile, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all participants of the contest and all schools, as well as all Chinese teachers who have dedicated to the contest.

　　中尼两国比邻而居，文化交往源远流长，两国人民之间的友谊代代相传。今年是“中尼友好交流年”，两国在教育、文化、旅游、商贸、宗教等领域的交流十分活跃，越来越多的尼泊尔民众希望了解中国，越来越多的尼泊尔学生希望学习汉语。为此，我们设立了加德满都大学孔子学院，开设了6所孔子课堂，希望为尼民众提供便捷的汉语学习平台，并先后派遣了8批汉语教师志愿者来尼工作。目前，共有80多位中文教师分布在加德满都谷地、博克拉、奇特旺、蓝毗尼、巴拉比斯、比那格拉噶等地，在当地教授中文，促进文化交流，尼学习中文人数已逾万人。

Nepal and China are neighboring countries with long history of cultural exchanges. People-to-people friendship between our two countries has been handed down from generation to generation. This year is China Nepal Friendship Exchange Year. We have witnessed active exchanges between our two countries in the fields of education, culture, tourism, business, religion etc. More and more Nepalese people are eager to know about China, while more and more Nepalese students want to learn Chinese language. Therefore, the Chinese government has set up a Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University and 6 Confucius Classrooms in Nepal to provide convenient access for Nepalese people to learn Chinese languages. Up to now, 8 groups of Chinese language volunteer teachers have been sent to Nepal. Currently more than 80 Chinese teachers are teaching Chinese language and culture in different places in Nepal, including Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini, Barhabise, Biratnagar and so on, and over 10 thousand Nepalese people are learning Chinese language.

　　中文是世界上最为古老和使用人数最多的语言，也是联合国正式工作语言。汉语不仅代表着五千年来一直延绵不断的中华文明，同时正成为中国增长最快、影响最大的对外文化产品和对外交流工具。可以说，学习汉语是了解当代中国最直接、最有效的钥匙。我很高兴地看到，历时三年，“大使杯”汉语比赛和“中华才艺”比赛已经成为尼泊尔学生提高汉语水平、了解中华文化的平台。

Chinese language is the most ancient and mostly spoken language in the world. It is also one of the official working languages of the United Nation. It not only represents Chinese civilization which has a long history of more than 5000 years, but also becomes China’s fastest growing and most influential external cultural product and communication tool. I should say learning Chinese language is the most direct and effective way to better understand the contemporary China. I’m very glad to see that after 3 years experiences, both Ambassador Cup Chinese Language Contest and Chinese Cultural Performance Contest have become platforms for Nepalese students to enhance Chinese language level, learn Chinese culture and understand China better.

　　今年，共有来自尼泊尔全境近70所大、中小学的上千名学生参赛，年长者已逾七十，最小的不过6岁，相信大家在参与竞争的同时，一定也感受到了汉语的魅力和中华文化的博大精深，你们的精彩表现，不仅证明了自己的实力，同时也彰显了中尼教育、文化交流取得的丰硕成果。借此机会，我衷心地希望有更多的尼泊尔朋友学习中文，通过汉语学习，了解中国五千多年的文明历史和深厚文化传统，了解今天中国的和谐快速发展，了解中尼文化交往的历史底蕴和中尼关系的美好前景，在为个人发展寻找新的空间的同时，成为中尼世代友好的使者。

This year, more than 1000 participants from nearly 70 schools, colleges and universities all over Nepal have taken part in the contests. Among them, the eldest is 74 years old and the youngest is only 5. There are participants even from India and South Korea. I believe when taking part in the competition you have also enjoyed the charm of Chinese language and profound Chinese civilization. Your wonderful performances have not only shown your talents but also embodied fruitful achievements of educational and cultural exchange between our two countries. I sincerely hope more and more Nepalese friends will learn Chinese language, and understand better about the splendid Chinese civilization, Chinese cultural tradition and the harmonious fast development of China today. It will also help you to know more about the history of China-Nepal culture as well as the better perspective of China-Nepal relations. Wish more and more Nepalese friends can find new personal development space through Chinese language study and become friendly envoys for China-Nepal friendship.
