Speech by H.E. Ambassador Mr. Yang Houlan on the Launching of UnionPay Card Acceptance Partnership with Himalayan Bank

Ladies and gentlemen,

Good afternoon.

非常高兴参加中国银联受理业务开通仪式。首先，我代表中国驻尼泊尔大使馆对中国银联和喜马拉雅银行表示热烈祝贺，并对尼泊尔社会各界的支持表示衷心感谢。

I am very pleased to be here today to attend the launching program of China UnionPay Card Acceptance Partnership with Himalayan Bank. On behalf of Chinese Embassy in Nepal, I would like to extend my warm congratulations to China UnionPay and Himalayan Bank, and express my sincere appreciation to all the people who have given your kind support to China UnionPay’s operations in Nepal.

近年来，中国与尼泊尔的贸易往来和人员交流日益密切，各方面对银行卡的支付需求越来越大。正是在此背景下，中国银联与尼泊尔喜马拉雅银行合作开通银联卡受理业务，努力为促进中国同尼泊尔的贸易往来和人员交流提供方便，做出积极贡献。

In recent years, our two countries have witnessed growing interactions in economic, trade and tourism, and people’s demand for high quality electronic payment services is growing. Under the circumstances, China UnionPay and Himalayan Bank launch the China UnionPay Card Acceptance Partnership, providing a convenient facility for international payments and people to people contact between China and Nepal.

作为尼泊尔重要的金融机构，喜马拉雅银行具有突出的市场地位和广泛的影响力。近年来，喜马拉雅银行在施雷斯塔主席的领导下，取得了骄人的业绩，对中国的业务不断扩大。中国银联与喜马拉雅银行合作，使银联的国际受理网络扩大到了更多的商业机构，并使喜马拉雅银行实现了网络增值。这是一次双赢的合作。我相信，中国银联与喜马拉雅银行的合作一定会不断取得新的实绩。

Himalayan Bank, as an important financial institution of Nepal, has a prominent market position and broad influence. Under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Manoj Shrestha, Himalayan Bank has made excellent performance, and the operations with china are expanding. The Bank’s partnership with China UnionPay will bring China UnionPay with more access to Nepalese merchants, and it will also add value to Himalayan Bank’s network. I am confident that we can see more and more progress of your collaboration.

中国银联顺应中国经济社会发展和对外开放需要，不仅在中国境内建立起了较强的市场优势，银联卡受理网络遍布城乡，而且银联国际化步伐不断加快，初步建立了较大规模的国际受理网络。中国银联同尼泊尔银行的合作正是国际合作拓展的重要一环，将在尼泊尔为用户提供优质、安全、高效的银行卡支付服务，对推动两国各领域的互利合作发挥积极影响。

China UnionPay responds positively to the demand for electronic payment services in economic growth and social development of China. It has established a fully-fledged payment network throughout China with strong market leadership as well as an expanding network all over the world for growing international operations. I believe that the partnership with Himalayan Bank, as part of China UnionPay’s market promotion, will supply qualified, safe and efficient electronic payment services in Nepal, and contribute to the win-win cooperation in various sectors between our two countries.
