尊敬的澳中友协全国主席兼维州分会主席John Breheny先生，

尊敬的弗雷泽前总理，

尊敬的来宾：

The Hon Malcolm Fraser,

Distinguished Guests,

　　很高兴出席今晚盛大的招待会。今年是中澳建交40周年及澳中友协维州分会成立60周年，是中澳关系史上一个特殊的年份。我代表中国驻澳大利亚使馆，对澳中友好协会维州分会成立60周年表示热烈祝贺。今天我演讲的题目是“赞叹先行者的远见”。

It is my great pleasure to attend tonight’s reception.

This year is special in the history of China-Australia relations, as it marks the 40th anniversary of our diplomatic relations and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Australia China Friendship Society Victoria Branch.

Let me first extend, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Australia, our warm congratulations on the 60th birthday of ACFS Victoria Branch.

The title of my speech today is “We Admire Pioneers’ Vision”.

　　澳中友协维州分会值得我们尊敬。她是澳大利亚乃至西方世界最早承认新中国的民间组织之一，是中澳人民友好交流的先行者和见证者。1952年，在绝大多数澳民众对中国还极度缺乏了解甚至抱有偏见的年代，澳中友协维州分会即投身于两国友好事业，在中澳两国人民之间搭建友谊之桥，显示出非凡的战略远见和勇气。20年后，中澳正式建立外交关系，两国关系步入崭新的历史阶段。这里面凝聚着澳中友协的一份重要的付出、一份珍贵的贡献。关心和支持中澳关系的中国人民对此永远不会忘记。

ACFS Victoria Branch deserves our respect.

It was one of the first non-governmental organizations in Australia, if not the western world, that recognized the new China.

It has been a pioneer and witness of the friendly exchanges between the people of China and Australia.

In 1952, most Australians still knew little about or even had a bias against China. 

But it was at that time that ACFS Victoria Branch started to devote itself to the cause of friendship between our two countries, building a bridge of friendship between the our peoples.

It displayed extraordinary strategic vision courage.

20 years later, with official diplomatic recognition, China-Australia relations entered a new historical stage.

It embodied your hard work and valuable contribution.

The Chinese people who care about and support China-Australia relations will never forget this.

　　中澳建交40年来，世界风云剧烈变幻，中国和澳大利亚也经历了沧海桑田的变化，但中澳两国的友好合作关系始终破浪而行，不断向前，凭借的是中澳两国领导人和人民的政治智慧、远见和勇气。40年的外交关系加上60年澳中友协的历史，恰好是整整一个世纪，我们从中也获取了宝贵的经验：

In past four decades, we have seen ups and downs in international situation and great transformation in our respective countries.

But the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Australia have braved waves and pressed ahead.

This should be attributed to the political wisdom, vision and courage of our leaders and peoples.

The 40 years of diplomatic relations plus the 60-year history of ACFS is an entire century, from which we have learned valuable experience.
