尼泊尔总统拉姆·巴兰·亚达夫在上海世博会的电视致辞（英汉对照）

It is a matter of pleasure that the city of Shanghai is hosting the Expo 2010, highlighting the inspiring theme of “better city, better life.” On behalf of the people and government of Nepal, I would like to thank and congratulate the people and officials of Shanghai for such event, for the roles that cities have played in the history of human civilization as a sublime expression of human activity. The Shanghai slogan is a telling message for us in the way we plan and build cities, finding a harmony between culture and nature, modernity and antiquity. As a participant in the Expo, Nepal is confident of its success, and hopes that our participation will be an opportunity on the part of economic development, city building, and expansion of trade, tourism and foreign direct investment, with the theme “Tales of Katmandu City”. Nepal Pavilion in the Expo will put on display a replica of magnificence of Katmandu, the capital city of Nepal. The seed of civilization, the city of Katmandu is rich in art, architecture, nature and culture. The pavilion will showcase wonders of Katmandu heritage. I would like to have here this opportunity to invite the participants of the Expo to come and experience the splendor of Nepal Pavilion. 上海举办2010年世博会，提出振奋人心的主题”城市，让生活更美好”，可喜可贺。我谨代表尼泊尔人民和政府，向上海人民和官员表示感谢与祝贺，你们为大家展示了城市在人类历史文明进程中所起的重要作用，城市是对人类活动的伟大注解。上海提出的口号为大家指明了我们在设计和建设城市时的方向，追求文化与自然，现代与古代之间的和谐。作为参与者，尼泊尔相信世博会将取得圆满成功，我们的主题是”加德满都城的故事”，我希望本国的参与是促成经济发展、城市建设、贸易、旅游以及外国直接投资扩大的契机。本届世博会的尼泊尔展馆将重现尼泊尔首都加德满都城的辉煌。作为文明的摇篮，加德满都富于艺术、建筑、自然风光与灿烂文化。尼泊尔展馆将向各位呈现加德满都传统的奇迹。借此机会，诚邀世博会各位来宾光临尼泊尔展馆，体验我们的风采。最后祝愿上海2010世博会取得巨大成功，谢谢。
