烛影摇红喜可知，催妆为赋小乔诗。

同心能偿浑疑梦，注目相看不语时。

一笑艰难成往事，共盟奋勉记佳期。

百年一吻叮咛后，明月来窥夜正迟。

注：陈毅与张茜（1922～1974）于1949年在新四军江南指挥部部在地江苏省溧阳县水西村结婚。

The Wedding Day

February 1940

Chen Yi

Flames of red candles, the time of happiness,

I write this poem for my beautiful bride.

Now love-locked, I seem to be in a dream,

Looking into each other’s eyes, both are speechless.

With a smile, let woeful past be bygones,

And this day remembered with our pledge.

After a kiss of lifelong commitment,

The moon is peeping and the night late.

Note: Chen Yi and Zhang Qian (1922-1974) got married at the South Yangtze headquarters of the New Fourth Army in Shuixi Village, Liyang County, Jiangsu Province, 1940.
