冰心·《影响》英译

一个人的思想，

发表了出去；

不论他是得赞扬是受攻击，

至少使他与别人有些影响。

好似一颗小石头抛在水里，

一声轻响跳起水珠来；

接着漾出无数重重叠叠的圈儿，

越远越大直到水的边际——

不要做随风飘荡的羽毛！

吹落在水面上，

漾不出圈儿，

反被水沾住了。

Influence

Bing Xin

 

The thought of one person

Is publicized;

Whether he wins praise or meets with attack,

He would have some influence on others.

 

This is like a stone thrown into water:

One splash sends out some water beads,

This will be followed by numerous concentric overlapping circles,

Which expand further, larger until the water edge—

Don’t act like the feather drifting along with the wind!

It is blown down onto the water,

Without bringing up ripples,

It gets drenched.
