Evening Mist (Fragments)

1914

Among the peaks the evening mist arise, (Xiao)

And on the river the returning men travel. (Xiao)

The cloud flows over a thousand li, (Xiao)

And the men face a light sail. (Mao)

Dark is the wild forest with the setting sun, (Mao)

And rings the cold bell from the ancient temple. (Xiao)

To the deep forest go the birds tired, (Xiao)

And by the high loft stands the woman beautiful. (Mao)
