兽畏火，人养火，乃有了文明，

与太阳同起同睡的，便是幸福的了，

我，却赞美人间第一盏灯。

The First Lamp

Birds engulf hard pebbles to grind the grain in their crops.

Beasts fear fire. Men keep fire, and so arises civilization.

Blessed are those who arise at sunrise and sleep at sunset.

Yet I praise the first lamp that opens on a new world.
