问：据报道，近日南苏丹上尼罗河州等地冲突加剧。中方对此有何评论？

Q: Conflicts in Upper Nile state and other parts of South Sudan have flared up over recent days. What is China’s comment on that?

答：近日，南苏丹冲突加剧，反对派威胁进攻油田等基础设施，中方对此表示严重关切。暴力冲突将导致更多人道主义灾难，破坏南苏丹经济发展，威胁地区稳定。

A: Recently, the conflict in South Sudan has escalated, and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition made threats to attack the infrastructure including the oil fields. The Chinese side expresses grave concern over that. Violent conflict will cause additional human suffering, jeopardize the economic future of South Sudan, and risk regional stability.

当前，南苏丹人民长远利益及地区和平稳定都面临挑战。我们呼吁冲突双方以南苏丹人民未来福祉为重，立即停止军事冲突，确保在南苏丹外国工作人员、联合国工作人员及人道主义援助机构安全。各方都有责任保护南苏丹石油基础设施，这是南苏丹在和平过渡期重建和发展经济至关重要的资源。

The long-term interests of the South Sudanese people, as well as regional peace and stability, are currently at stake. We call on both parties involved in the armed fighting to put the future and well-being of the South Sudanese citizens first and immediately stop the military conflict, so as to ensure the safety of foreign workers, UN personnel and humanitarian actors in South Sudan. All sides have the responsibility to protect the country’s oil infrastructure, which will be a critically important resource for South Sudan in economic reconstruction and development during a peaceful period of transition.

南苏丹冲突不可能通过武力解决。我们敦促南苏丹冲突各方作出政治决断，尽早达成和解，开启实质性过渡进程。

There can be no military solution to this conflict. We urge all parties involved in the South Sudan conflict to make the political decision, bring about a reconciliation and initiate a meaningful transition as soon as possible.

问：据报道，日本首相夫人安倍昭惠21日在其社交媒体个人主页上称其参拜了靖国神社。中方对此有何评论？

Q: Akie Abe, wife of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reportedly wrote on her personal homepage of a social network that she visited the Yasukuni Shrine on May 21. What is China’s comment on that?

答：中方在历史问题上的立场是明确和一贯的。我们再次敦促日方切实正视和深刻反省过去那段侵略历史，同军国主义划清界限，以实际行动取信于国际社会和亚洲邻国。

A: The Chinese side holds a clear and consistent position on the history issue. We once again urge the Japanese side to face squarely and reflect upon the history of aggression, make a clean break with militarism and win the trust of the international community and its Asian neighbors with concrete actions.

问：据报道，美军一架P-8A反潜侦察机20日飞近南沙永暑礁等岛礁侦察中方活动，中国军队通过无线电多次警告其马上离开。中方能否证实并介绍有关情况？

Q: A P-8A anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft of the US military approached the maritime features of the Nansha Islands, including the Yongshu Jiao on May 20 to monitor China’s activities. The Chinese navy warned the aircraft to leave immediately through radio several times. Can you confirm that and give us more details?

答：经向中方有关部门了解，20日，美军一架P-8A反潜侦察机抵近中方南沙有关岛礁海域进行侦察活动。中方守礁部队依照规定对其进行无线电喊话驱离。需要指出的是，美军机抵近侦察的举动，对中方岛礁的安全构成潜在威胁，极易引发误判，进而导致海空意外事件，是十分不负责任，也是十分危险的，有损地区和平稳定。中方对此表示强烈不满。我们要求美方严格遵守国际法和相关国际规则，不要采取任何冒险和挑衅行动。中方将继续严密监视有关海空情况，并视情采取适当和必要措施，防止发生危害中国岛礁安全的情况和海空意外事件。

A: Information from the competent authorities of China shows that a US P-8A anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft flew over waters off relevant maritime features of China’s Nansha Islands for reconnaissance activities on May 20. Chinese troops garrisoning the islands and reefs acted upon the rules and asked the aircraft to leave through radio. It must be pointed out that the reconnaissance conducted by the US military aircraft poses a potential threat to the security of China’s maritime features, and is highly likely to cause miscalculation, or even untoward maritime and aerial incidents. It is irresponsible and dangerous and detrimental to regional peace and stability. The Chinese side hereby expresses strong dissatisfaction. We call on the American side to act in strict accordance with the international law and relevant international rules, and refrain from taking any risky and provocative actions. The Chinese side will keep a close watch on the situation in relevant waters and airspace and take proper and necessary measures accordingly, so as to guard against any harm to the security of China’s maritime features as well as sea and air accidents.
