予于词，五代喜李后主、冯正中而不喜《花词》。宋喜同叔、永叔、子瞻、少游而不喜美成。南宋只爱稼轩一人，而最恶梦窗、玉田。介存《词辨》所选词，颇多不当人意。而其论词则多独到之语。始知天下固有具眼人，非予一人之私见也。<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Concerning my own appreciation of tz’u, in the Five Dynasties period I like best Li Yu and Feng Yen-ssu and do not like [the poets in] Hua-chien [chi]. In the Sung I like best Yen Shu, Ouyang Hsiu, Su Shih, and Ch’in Kuan, but do not like Chou Pang-yen. In the Southern Sung the only poet I like is Hsin Ch’i-chi, while those I dislike most are Wu Wen-ying and Chang Yen. The tz’u collected by Chou Chi in his Tz’u pien are not exactly what others would have chosen, and his discussions of tz’u represent almost entirely his own independent views. I have begun to realize that there are definitely in this world men with an all-inclusive view, without my own personal bias.
