梅溪、梦窗、玉田、草窗、西麓诸家，词虽不同，然同失之肤浅。虽时代使然，亦其才分有限也。近人弃周鼎而宝康瓠，实难索解。

Although the tz’u of Shih Ta-tsu, Wu Wen-ying, Chang Yen, Chou Mi, and Ch’en Yun-p’ing, are all different, they have the common defect of superficiality. This was in part due to the period in which they lived, but their ability also had limitations. It is difficult to explain why men in recent times ‘have rejected the Chou dynasty tripod in favour of earthenware pots.’
