词家多以景寓情。其专作情语而绝妙者，如牛峤之“甘作一生拼，尽君今日欢。”，顾夐之“换我心为你心，始知相忆深。”欧阳修之“衣带渐宽终不悔，为伊消得人憔悴。”美成之“许多烦恼，只为当时，一饷留情。”此等词求之古今人词中，曾不多见。<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Many tz’u writers used scenery as a vehicle for expression feelings. But though one may search through the tz’u of ancients and moderns alike, one seldom can find examples which excell in pure expression of emotion alone such as Niu Ch’iao’s:

In this moment I would rish a whole lifetime

To make your pleasure complete today.

Ku Hsiung’s:

Exchange my heart for yours

And know the depth of my longing for you.

Ouyang Hsiu’s:

My clothes grow daily more loose yet care I not,

For you am I thus wasting away in sorrow and pain.

And Chou Pang-yen’s:

How much distress

For just that time

That one moment of heart-brimming love.
