<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Of the various shapes of modern-style verse (chin-i shih), five and seven-word-line quatrains are considered the most esteemed; regulated verse comes next, and long regulated verse (p’ai-lu) is at the bottom. That is to say, the latter genre is not at all suitable for conveying sentiments or expressing feelings but is rather more like a rjymed parallel prose.
