《人间词话》英译（四十九）

介存谓：梦窗词之佳者，如“水光云影，摇荡绿波，抚玩无极，迫寻已远”。余览《梦窗甲乙丙丁稿》中，实无足当此者。有之，其“隔江人在雨声中，晚风菰叶生秋怨”二语乎。

Chou Chi said: ‘The most excellent example of Wu Wen-ying’s tz’u are like sunlight and shadows dancing on the green waves, caressing, playing without tiring; yet when we pursue them, they are already far in the distance’. In reading through Wu Wwn-ying’s collected verse I have found nothing that merits such a comment. If we were to attempt to point out any, would it be perhaps the two lines:

Across the river stands a man, raindrops dripping, dripping.

The evening breeze through the reeds rouses autumn sadness.
