《人间词话》英译（四十七）

稼轩《中秋饮酒达旦，用天问体作木兰花慢以送月》曰：“可怜今夕月，向何处，去悠悠？是别有人间，那边才见，光景东头。”词人想象，直悟月轮绕地之理，与科学家密合，可谓神悟。

Hsin Ch’i-chi in mid-autumn drank wine one night until dawn and, using the ‘Heavenly questions’ as a form, wrote a tz’u to the tune of ‘Mu lan hua man’ to speed the moon on its way. He said:

Moon of tonight, I pity you!

Where do you go

So far, so far?

There is perhaps another world of men

Over there where you are just appearing

A brilliant light in the east.

The poet’s imagination, grasping accurately the principle of the moon revolving around the earth, agreed perfectly with the [knowledge of] scientists. Such as be called intuitive understanding (shen-wu).
