In reading the tz’u of Su Shih and Hsin Ch’i-chi one cannot help noticing their equanimity and loftiness. They had the manner of a Po-yi or Liu-hsia Hui. Even though Chiang K’uei seemed to have shaken off the dust of the world, in the end he could not avoid feeling its control and restraint.
