《人间词话》英译（二十四）

《诗·蒹葭》一篇，最得风人深致。晏同叔之“昨夜西风凋碧树，独上高楼，望尽天涯路。”意颇近之。但一洒落，一悲壮耳。<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The poem ‘Chien chia’ in the Shih Ching has merited the deepest appreciation of poets (feng-jen). Yen Shu’s lines:

Last night the west wind shriveled the green-clad trees

Alone I climb the high tower

To gaze my fill along the road to the horizon.

approach it in meaning, but the one is lighthearted, the other tragic.
