Every one knows that Lin Pu’s tz’u to the tune of ‘Tien chiang ch’un’, Mei Yao-ch’en’s tz’u to the tune of ‘Su mu che’, and Ouyang Hsiu’s tz’u to the tune of ‘Shao nien yu’ were masterpieces on the subject of spring grasses, but what many did not understand was that prior to these were Feng Yen-ssu’s five words, ‘Fine rain dampens the passage of time’, which really captured the soul of spring grasses.
