《菜根谭》英译（诚信和气、胜于观心）

家庭有个真佛，日用有种真道。人能诚心和气、愉色婉言，使父母兄弟间形骸两释，意气交流，胜于调息观心万倍矣！<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Real faith and genuine rules of conduct can be found in the home and in everyday life. If everyone practiced sincerity and harmony, with a smiling countenance and polite words there would be no estrangement between family members whatsoever and their interests would coincide completely. This is ten thousand times better than sitting in meditation or pracitising breath control.

There should be a true faith for a family and a genuine principle in daily life, abiding by two of which, people will become even-tempered, good-humored and gentle-behaved. Such atmosphere enables the parents and brothers to clear up their mutual misunderstandings and become congenial to each other. This is ten thousand times better than only regulating breath of sitting in meditation.
