中秋拜月

倾城人家侄女，不以贫富，自能行至十二三，皆以成人之服饰之，登楼或于中庭焚香拜月，各有所期。

Worshipping the Moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival

All the children in town, rich or poor, from toddlers to teens, are dressed up in adults' clothes. They either go up on the roofs or gather in the yards to burn joss sticks and pray to the moon, each with his or her own wishes.

Every household in town arranges flowers in vases, lights joss sticks and candles and directs prayers skywards. Kids kneel, and raising their hands, they bow ardently to the moon. Afterward they play in the lamplight. This activity is called "worshipping the Moon God".
