How
clamorous the crowds around the
rich and the influential; by
myself, I sing alone in
the light of the moon. What
motivates the man to come with
poetry in mind? Here
he shows up at my door with
his elegant rhymes. I
chant among the jasmines and
hide in poverty: above
the pines and mountains yet; don’t
seek me ardently.
