今日喜时闻喜鹊，昨宵灯下拜灯花。

焚香出户迎潘岳，不羡牵牛织女家。

This day is one of happiness,

Foretold by news of joy;

last night I read the tidings

under the lamplight’s glow.

Perfuming the air with incense,

I step outside to greet you

no envy for the lovers of old

at their rendezvous.
