You lamented Yang Yu’s death just for his one sharp word,

Who has inherited your fine style of taking advice today?

Small as it was, Kingdom of Shu could confront Wu** and Wei, ***

Without an open mind how could you win over the great talents?

* A famous Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Shu (the present- day Sichuan province) during the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 AD). Yang Yu was one of his able counsels. Zhuge Liang took Yang’s advice to rule his kingdom well.
