Around my thatched cottage wild brooks wind;

To my rough curtain rosy clouds their way oft find.

With rain just o’er, bamboos refresh the eye,

And mountains in the setting sun more charming lie.

Idle stocks to roost go early in the eve;

And autumn flowers are slower to take their leave.

The boy is sweeping my o’ergrown paths clean

Against an old friend I’ve invited to the scene.
