望湖楼上立，竟日懒思还。

听水分他浦，看云过别山。

孤舟依岸静，独鸟向人闲。

回首重门闭，蛙鸣夕照间。

Written on the Lake View Tower

Standing all day on Lake View Tower,

Too lazy to think of going home,

I listen to the river flow off toward the Milky Way

And watch the clouds pass an isolated peak.

A lonely boat is pulled up on the bank;

A bird stands facing me in perfect calm.

–I turn my head, the double gates are closed;

Bullfrogs are croaking in the sunset.
