野戍荒烟断，深山古木平。

如何此时恨，噭噭夜猿鸣。

Evening Stopover at Lexiang County

Home is an unknown distance far away,

Sunset sees me still journeying alone.

Old country lost in the rivers and plains,

As the path into a frontier city leads.

Wilderness dusk cuts off the feisty mist,

And flattens pristine woods of far-off hills.

Oh, is this moment painful!

And the “jiao jiao” call of night apes.
