“鸡既鸣矣，
朝既盈矣。”
“匪鸡则鸣，
苍蝇之声。”

“东方明矣，
朝既昌矣。
“匪东方则明，
月出之光。”

“虫飞薨薨，
甘与子同梦。
会且归矣，
无庶予子憎。”

Cocks Crow

"Wake up, " she says, "cocks crow.
The court is on the go."
"It's not the cocks that cry,"
He says, "but hums a fly."

"The east is brightening;
The court is on full swing."
"It's not the east that's bright
But the moon that sheds light."

"Were it a humming fly,
I'd dream with you and lie.
But courtiers will not wait;
None likes you to be late."
