梧桐落尽西风恶。

西风恶，

数声新雁，

数声残角。

In autumn bleak

Plane trees are ript of leaves,

Hearing the west wind shriek.

Hear the west wind shriek!

The wild geese scream forlorn;

And moans the broken horn.

The parting grief won’t care for a wanderer’s heart,

Year after year from golden flowers kept apart.

From flowers kept apart,

By courtyard on courtyard, your house unseen

Is veiled by screen on screen.
