危楼还望，

叹此意、今古几人曾会？

鬼设神施，

浑认作、天限南疆北界。

一水横陈，

连岗三面，

做出争雄势。

六朝何事，

只成门户私计？

因笑王谢诸人，

登高怀远，

也学英雄涕。

凭却长江，管不到、

河洛腥膻无际。

正好长驱，

不须反顾，

寻取中流誓。

小儿破贼，

势成宁问强对！

Charming is Niannu

Ascending the Dominating Tower

Chen Liang

I gaze on high into the vast land,

Sighting over my strategy sound,

Which from of old few could understand.

’Tis strange that th’ strategic vantage ground

Should have been deemed as bounds between!

What a place for reaching out for peace:

The River of a thousand li it does face,

And it is back’d up by the mountains green.

Oh, it’s incredible that th’ petty household ease

Th’ Six Dynasties should have taken with a good grace!

Thus th’ Wang’s and th’ Xie’s in scorn I hold,

Who like heroes atop th’ tower tears shed.

Th’ stream’s no excuse for inaction when woes untold

The folks suffer’d under the smelly nomads tread.

Just gallop ahead, when ‘tis the right time to make

A long drive, without hesitation the least! Oh,

Be gallant like Zu Di who, to recover th’ land,

Cross’d the stream, and our warriors will surely take

The initiative and defeat the foe!

For integrity we must get the upper hand!
