A Pair of Teals

Zhu Dunru

Having shaken off the haze and mist on the autumn river

Come forth a pair of purple teals.

They must be fatigued from far-flying

So they alight hugging together on the sandy bank.

Someone is playing the flute and wakes me unawares.

I regret not having then copied down the tune,

Now where can I retrace it?
