Measures at Court

On the Northern Peak by the West Lake

Zhou Zizhi

The West Lake beams with ripples when mist clears away.

Whose smiling face can be so gay?

How much frost-proof chrysanthemums by lakeside please,

Thrice in my company defying autumn breeze!

The northern peak and southern crest

Overlook at Heaven’s will

The two states east and west.

Though old, I’m in health fine.

Going uphill,

Can I not fill

My cup with wine?
