满载一船明月，

平铺千里秋江。

波神留我看斜阳，

唤起鳞鳞细浪。

Carrying a boatload of luminous moonlight,

I sailed smoothly down the autumn river a thousand miles long.

The River God invited me to enjoy the sunset:

He called up ripples of tiny wavelets.

Tomorrow, when the wind turns, it would be better still.

Tonight, why not sleep under the open sky?

(2)    Rainbow Costume—A song-and-dance music piece very popular in the Tang Dynasty.

(3)    Yueyang Tower—The poet is expressing his own wish to visit the Yueyang Tower by the Tongting Lake in Hunan Province, where he could be sure to command a magnificent view of the Lake and sails on the Lake.
