He and I, sad and pale, left the capital and walked along,

And saw green willows shine below the Lotus Tower.

We drank together, and I sang a farewell song,

Then I saw him off after accompanying him more than an hour.

I wished to have a sweet dream, but failed.

Who knows how my heart wailed?

My teardrops at the pillow, and the rain drops outside the window,

Kept dripping and dripping till the morrow.
