Your painted boat went eastward on the river clear.

How could I bear the parting sorrow sad and drear?

Since in west wind with tears in eyes we bade adieu,

Nine out of ten nights I dream of the station and you.

Clouds fly over water wide,

Wild geese over riverside,

Only amid sweet grass

Can I see leaving soul, alas!

Last time we came together to pick lotus leaves;

Now the lonely moon in the dreary breeze still grieves.
