嫩绿重重看得成

曲阑幽槛小红英。

酴釄架上蜂儿闹，

杨柳行间燕子轻。

春婉娩，客飘零，

残花浅酒片时清。

一杯且买明朝事，

送了斜阳月又生。

Partridges in the Sky

Fan Chengda

The green and tender leaves are growing deeper in hue,

Here and there within the rails are seen buds red and new.

Atop the raspberry trellises th’ bees buzz and hum;

Between rows of willows th’ swallows deftly go and come.

I deplore my wandering life when spring wears away,

And resort to left-o’er wine and flowers to sane stay.

Oh! Isn’t one more cup be nice for tomorrow’s sake?

But lo! The moon arises in the setting sun’s wake!
