Returning from Goose Lake

Seeking spring on purpose, the journey soon tires me.

Why don’t I stroll at will and drink two cups or three?

When I find mountains please, I am too tired to roam;

My verse not finished, rain hastens me to go home.

With a cane of bamboo

I don the sandal-shoe.

Wild blooming flowers spread

Out in white or in red

Who are those fair brides going home on Cold Food Day,

Smiling and talking ‘neath mulberries on the way?
