Mooring at Night on River Yizhen

At night my boat is tied

By the cold riverside,

I croon for long

My verse and song.

In water deep

The startled fish and dragon leap.

Wind sweeps the ground;

In waves houses seem drowned.

I have not crooned my fill;

Not drunk, then I drink still.

Don’t ask at all

About the rise and fall!

How can I not shed tears?
