寒日萧萧上琐窗，梧桐应恨夜来霜。酒阑更喜团茶苦，梦断偏宜瑞脑香。

秋已尽，日犹长，仲宣怀远更凄凉。不如随分尊前醉，莫负东篱菊蕊黄。

Nostalgia
—to the tune of Zhegutian

On the carved window frame,
The Autumn sun shines desolately.
The wutong trees disliked the night frost.
The bitter caked-tea (1) tastes good after wine.
Awake, I enjoy the incense of the borneol camphor.

Autumn draws to its end.
The day remains long.
My nostalgia is worse than Wang Zhongxuan's (2)
When he was far away from home.
It is good to sit intoxicated before a wine cup
And appreciate the yellow chrysanthemums
Behind the Eastern Hedge.


(1)caked-tea: A kind of precious tea often dedicated to the emperors in the Song Dynasty. It is also called dragon-phoenix tea.
(2)Wang Zhongxuan: A prose writer also known as Wang Can (177-217 A.D.) from the end of the late East Han Dynasty. He is the author of a famous fu (prose poem) called Deng Lou ("Climbing a Tower"), a piece written by the poet in exile in which he years for his native land.
