他是你强硬的债主，你呢？是

你曾那样拿理想赌博，不幸

你输了；放下精神最后保留的田产，

最有价值的衣裳，然后一切你都

赔上，连自己的情绪和信仰，那不是自然？

 

你的债权人他是，那么，别尽问他脸貌

到底怎样！呀天，你如果一定要看清

今晚这里有盏小灯，灯下你无妨同他

面对面，你是这样的绝望，他是这样无情！

Of course, despair is not your friend

or your enemy, you mustn’t blame him!

He is your persistent creditor, and you?

You are the gambler with your soul as the stakes.

 

You gambled with your ideals, unfortunately

you lost. You gave up the spirit’s last kept acreage,

the most expensive clothing; you paid off with everything you have,

even your emotions and beliefs. Is this to be expected?

 

He is your creditor, don’t keep asking

what he really looks like. Ah, if you must take a good look at him

three will be a small lamp here tonight, why don’t you meet him

face to face, you so hopeless, he so merciless!

The most valuable dress, losing everything,

Even your belief and emotions, is it certain?

 

He is your creditor, so do not inquire about

His appearance! God, so if you are bound to see clearly,

Here is a lamp tonight. You might come face to face

With him, so desperate are you, so merciless is her!
