学须静，

才须学。

非学无以广才，

非静无以成学。

行义要强，

受谏要弱。

生于忧患，

死于安乐。

闲时不烧香，

急时抱佛脚。

不患老而无成，

只怕幼而不学。

Abilities are gained through learning,

Learning is conducted in calmness.

Abilities cannot be increased without learning,

Learning cannot succeed without calmness.

Be aggressive when acting for justice,

Be mild when listening to an admonishment.

Combating misery and worry results in survival,

Resting content with peace and happiness

Results in death.

If you do not burn incense

When you are at leisure,

You can only embrace Buddha’s feet in vain

When things become urgent.

What is frightening is that

You do not learn when young,

What does not necessarily need to be feared

Is that you get old without achievement.
