between Zeng Shen and His Mother Zeng Shen of the Zhou Dynasty in
the Spring-Autumn period, alias Ziyu, was extremely dutifully to his mother.
One day when Shen was pricking firewood in the mountains, a guest of theirs
came to visit them. His mother was quiet at a loss, as she expected Shen to be
back, but failed. So she snapped her own finger. Shen suddenly felt an ache in
his heart, and then went back home, kneeling in front of his mother and asked
what had happened. “It’s quite urgent. A guest came so I bit my finger hard to
let you know about it.” |
