苍颜华发，

故山归计无因得。

旧交新贵音书绝。

惟有家人，

犹作殷勤别。

Drunk and Lost

Huang Tingjian

A wrinkled face and whitish hair,

I dreamed of my homeland, but how could I get there?

My friends won’t write to me, poor or rich, old or new,

Only my household

Came to bid me adieu.

When I left the Pavilion Long

Amid sobs and farewell song,

My cheeks were chilled in drizzling rain.

Don’t wipe away with silken handkerchief the tear stain!

Let it on silken sleeves remain

And tell you my feeling when we meet again!
