I’ve roamed for ten years up and down,

Drinking wine and singing my song

Far from the capital town.

How can I be free all day long?

To roadside grass I often say adieu,

My white hair wet with wind and dew.

 

I climb up high

And gaze to the end of the sky.

As fine as rain I see bowers on bowers.

I fear tomorrow,

To my deep sorrow,

I’ll lose sight of you and mume flowers.
