江头月底，

新诗旧梦，

孤恨清香。

也曾先识东皇。

The Mume Blossom

Your lonely grace won’t visit Vanity Fair;

Silent and sad, you do not care.

Like a wanderer you play your part

With an indifferent heart.

In moonlight by the stream,

With new verse and old dream,

I feel the grief your fragrance brings.

Uncared for by the vernal breeze on the wing,

You are the first to welcome spring.
